The Consulate General of Canada is proud of its role as a lead partner presenting the 2010 Environmental Trade Mission and Conference. Canada is strongly committed to working with the United States on their joint stewardship of a shared environment.

The Consulate General works with corporations and organizations on innovative programs such as the 2010 Environmental Trade Mission and Conference to promote its commitment to environmental awareness and sustainability throughout Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee.  As such, it's no surprise that more than 15 Canadian companies were successfully recruited to attend the conference.  It should be noted that Canadian corporations will represent the event's largest international delegation.

It enforces our joint commitment to invest in newer, cleaner sources of energy that are creating new jobs in world-class industries, clean up the environment and protect the climate, improve standards of living and enhance global security. As part of this program, the German Consulate in Atlanta is flying  in Dr. Christine Wörlen  to speak for the Environmental Trade Mission.

Presenting Committee Member Spotlight: The Australian Trade Commission

Austrade

A resilient economy, proximity to the fastest growing region in the world, and strong government initiatives to address climate change, mean that Australia's clean technology industries are poised for growth.

Australia - with its vast continent-size land mass - is one of the few countries in the world that has abundant natural resources in nearly all forms of renewable energy, from solar, wind, 'hot rock' geothermal, and wave and tidal, to bioenergy and biofuels.

World Chamber of Commmerce

Once again The World Chamber of Commerce is proud to be a member of the Presenting Committee.  We asked George A. Novak, President of World Chamber of Commerce and Honorary Consul General of the Czech Republic, why the World Chamber of Commerce is once again supporting ETM 2010. He explained, "The World Chamber of Commerce recognizes that clean technology will be one of the largest growth areas for international trade over the next ten to twenty years.  We are here to bring businesses, governments and non-profits from the South together with those from all over the world to form relationships and access decision makers to meet their respective goals and mission. We want to be a bridge and by supporting the ETM 2010 it helps us make that happen in the cleantech industry."

International Participant Spotlight: Green Rite Solutions
Green Rite Solutions

Imagine this: For every million tons of waste, a product that can provide half a million tons of high quality, clean fuel; a product that can create heat, steam and even electricity.  The Environmental Trade Mission and Conference is pleased to be welcoming Green Rite Solutions a company that does just that, and one that helped make The 2010 Winter Olympics the first green Olympics in the World.   Their BIODRYER installed in Whistler British Columbia was used to convert human and food waste into clean energy during the Games.  The system caught the attention of media worldwide and was featured on a segment of the Daily Planet show on the Discovery Channel.

Meet Our Team of Sustainability Experts
Pol;y Sattler
Polly Sattler

We have some of the best experts on sustainability as a part of our consulting team.  For several months now they have been working tirelessly to make this year our biggest yet. Please let me introduce Polly Sattler, who has been a huge contributor to the success of the ETM.  With an M.A. in Environmental and Resource Policy from Georgia Washington University, Ms. Sattler has worked for Southface Energy Institute, the Clean Air Campaign, EarthShare of Georgia and as a lobbyist for Georgia Conservation Voters.  She is also the founder of Sustainable Business Day at the Capitol. Additionally, Ms. Sattler is President of reThink, a firm working with restaurants and to help them green their bottom line and reduce their environmental impact by incorporating ways to save energy and water. Through Ms. Sattler's company, she has helped restaurants save thousands of dollars.  Ms. Sattler has more than 15 years of experience in sustainability, environmental policy, advocacy and marketing.

Ms. Sattler is also a Co-Founder of GreenPlate, a non-profit organization that helps people and organizations understand the impacts of petroleum-based plastics on health, ecosystems, and resources. GreenPlate facilitates environmentally impactful change. The group offers consulting, research, education, and solutions on a project basis.  Check out the website www.greenplate.org and follow them on Twitter daily at http://twitter.com/greenplate.  Polly invites you to sign up to take the "7 Day Plastic Challege."  I did and it was surprisingly easy!

When asked at a recent planning session why she supports ETM2010, Ms. Sattler said "I am involved with the Trade Mission because I saw the benefits that it provided for all of the companies who attended the event last year.  Plus, when clean tech companies move to Georgia and the Southeast, we are all better off by having new jobs and a cleaner environment and partnerships with international companies." Thanks, Polly for all you do to make the world a better place and for your hard work on the ETM!

Michelle Morgan

Michelle Morgan

The Environmental Trade Mission and Conference could not be possible without the hard work and expertise of a cadre of specialized consultants.  Michelle Morgan is one of those whose knowledge in sustainable building design, innovation and business acumen has made this event such a success.

According to Michelle Morgan one of Greener Atlanta's consultants, The Environmental Trade Mission and Conference is important to her because "the true solution to sustainability is to connect with a wide variety of available technologies and expertise from across the globe.  Our environmental problems won't be solved with one solution, one person or even one way of thinking."

Michelle has extensive experience in architectural design and teaching.  Her experience in architectural design focused particularly on commercial, institutional and residential design.  She is a master in all phases of architecture, working with clients from initial contact, proposals and contract negotiation, through design and construction.  Michelle has also been a teacher. She had a significant record of success developing and teaching in community and state programs that developed student interests in architecture and design. A visiting critic at Governor's Honors Program noted: "Her approach to teaching and talent for lively investigation and discourse created an unusual and refreshing place, provocative ground for her students, as well as those of us that had the opportunity to teach with her."
